Rodent Questions We Hear From San Antonio Homeowners

These are the questions that come up most on calls from San Antonio and the cities around it. If yours isn't here, call and ask. Our homeowner guides go deeper on a few of them.

The Full List

Do you do the trapping yourselves?

No. Our job is the phone call. A licensed, independent company gets your call next. The trapping, sealing and pricing are theirs.

Which rodents do you handle?

Roof rats, Norway rats, house mice and pack rats (woodrats). Not squirrels, raccoons, possums or bats.

What part of town do you cover?

All of San Antonio and the nearby small cities, including Alamo Heights, Leon Valley, Windcrest, Live Oak and Universal City, and north Bexar County out to Timberwood Park.

How small a gap can a rat get through?

Texas A&M says a roof rat can get in through a hole about the size of a quarter, or a gap of about half an inch under a door. Mice need even less.

Should I fill my weep holes?

No. They drain water from behind the brick. Use weep hole screens or inserts instead. A tech can fit them as part of exclusion work.

How do I check a company's license?

Texas licenses structural pest control businesses through the Texas Department of Agriculture, which posts current license lists online. Ask for the license number.

Do I need to be home for the visit?

Usually yes for the first one, so the tech can get into the attic, the garage and the yard.

Can you give me a price on the phone?

No. We don't set prices. The company prices the job after seeing it.

What's that huge pile of sticks under my deck?

Probably a woodrat nest. See pack rat removal.

Is there a guarantee?

Not from us. Ask the company that does the work what their warranty covers.
