Rodent Control on San Antonio's South Side

The South Side covers a lot of ground. Close in, there are older neighborhoods along the river and around the Spanish missions, including Mission San José. Farther out, Military Dr. (the old Loop 13) carries shopping centers like South Park Mall and the old McCreless site, and newer subdivisions keep spreading toward the Toyota plant and the county line.
Most calls from here are about mice in kitchens and garages and Norway rats in backyards, with roof rats wherever the trees are big.
River and Creek Corridors
The San Antonio River runs south through the missions, and creeks and drainage channels cross the South Side. Rats live along those corridors and move into yards nearby, especially ones with compost, chickens, fallen fruit or pet food left out. Look for burrows along the fence and under sheds. A cluster of holes with packed dirt at the opening means it's time to call.
Older Homes Near the Missions
Many houses near the missions are older frame homes, some on piers. Gaps in the skirting, old pipe holes and loose siding let mice and rats in. Newer homes farther south have fewer gaps, but garage doors and weep holes still need attention. Either way, sealing is what makes trapping stick.
Shop owners along Military Dr. and Roosevelt Ave. can ask about commercial service with outside stations and a service log.
