Rodent Control in Timberwood Park
Timberwood Park sits in far northern Bexar County, outside the San Antonio city limits, about 22 miles north of downtown. It's on the southern edge of the Hill Country, and it has grown fast. The census counted about 13,400 people there in 2010 and over 35,000 in 2020.
Big lots and native brush are why people move out here, and they're also why rodents come calling. Woodrats, deer mice and roof rats all live in that cedar and oak. Houses here get pack rat calls more than most parts of town.
Sheds, Barns and Things That Sit
A lot of Timberwood lots have a workshop, a storage building or a trailer parked out back. Anything that sits still for months can turn into a nest. Pack rats pile sticks and cactus behind stored equipment, and mice fill the air filter box of a mower or a truck with shredded insulation.
Walk your outbuildings once a month. Look for droppings, chewed wiring and nest piles. Close the gaps under shed doors with a metal threshold or hardware cloth. If something has already moved in, have a tech trap it and take the nest apart before you start digging around in there yourself.
Colder Nights Than Downtown
Timberwood Park gets cold fronts and the occasional ice storm, with an average of about 17 nights a year below freezing. Those nights push mice toward garages and houses. A tight garage door seal and screened weep holes go a long way. See mouse control for the usual entry points.
