Rodent Control in Schertz and Cibolo
Schertz and Cibolo sit northeast of San Antonio along I-35 and FM 78, with Cibolo Creek running between them and Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph next door. Schertz reaches into three counties: Guadalupe, Comal and Bexar. Cibolo is in Guadalupe County. Both have grown fast, with subdivisions spreading over what was farm and ranch land.
That edge between new houses and open fields is where a lot of rodent calls start.
Fields, feed and harvest
Hay fields and crop land around these cities hold mice and rats. When fields are cut or plowed, rodents move toward the nearest cover, often a garage or a shed on the edge of a subdivision. Homes on bigger lots with chickens, horses or stored feed see more Norway rats. Keep feed in metal bins and pick up spilled grain.
Newer homes, familiar gaps
Most homes here are brick or stone veneer on slabs, built from the 1990s on. Weep holes, worn garage door seals and line set holes are the usual way in for mice. Roof rats show up where yard trees have grown big enough to reach the roof. Military families renting here should check the garage and attic when they move in, and report droppings to the landlord in writing. Homes that back onto open fields should also keep a clear strip of mowed grass along the back fence.
Noise in the attic tonight? Talk to someone who handles San Antonio rodents.

Cibolo Creek and the greenbelts
Cibolo Creek and the greenbelts along it run between neighborhoods in both cities. Homes that back onto the creek or the parks see more Norway rats, especially after heavy rain fills the creek and pushes rodents out of low burrows. Keep compost closed, clear junk piles near the back fence, and watch for burrows along the slab and under sheds in the days after a storm.
